Advanced Technology, Compassionate Care
O'Connor Hospital Radiation Therapy provides outstanding and compassionate care under the direction of physicians and other specialists. It is our mission to treat you with excellent care and service in a healing environment. Please let us know at any time if you have questions or concerns.
What is Radiation Therapy?
Radiation therapy uses high energy x-rays or electrons to treat diseases, primarily cancer. Radiation therapy is one of the three main methods for treating cancer; chemotherapy and surgery are the other two. Using the latest available technology, we target the treatment area and destroy the cancer while minimizing potential side effects. Depending on the needs of the patients our physicians’ may utilize 3D conformal, or intensity modulated radiotherapy, IMRT. HDR, Mammosite brachytherapy, and other techniques are available in the department as well.
Our Services
A team of highly skilled health care professionals work with your referring physician to provide you with integrated, excellent care. All individuals who prescribe and administer radiation therapy have outstanding clinical credentials. We take pride in the services we provide to our patients, and go the extra step to make them feel special. At O'Connor Hospital, we have two board certified Radiation Oncologists who partner with nurses, therapists and other professionals.
Dr. Connie Bowie, medical director of Radiation Therapy, is a graduate of the Mayo Medical School and completed her residency in Radiation Oncology at Stanford University. She has served on numerous professional and community service committees and as Chief of Staff of the O'Connor Hospital medical staff for 2005, 2006.
Dr. Gregory Colburn is a graduate of Harvard University and the University of California School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Radiation Oncology at UCLA. He joined O'Connor Hospital in 2000 and has served as Chair of the Cancer Care Committee, Tumor Board, and Clinical Services Committee.
