Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction
Chaplain Services offers training workshops in meditation through the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program. For detailed information please visit http://www.mindfulnessprograms.com or call 408-947-2888.
The Stress Reduction Program is specifically designed for people experiencing signs of stress: irritability, muscle tension, feeling overwhelmed, burn out, apathy, restlessness, headaches, anxiety, fatigue, stomach distress, difficulty in concentrating, worry, over-work, substance abuse, smoking, eating & sleeping disturbances in daily life and want to promote healthy living.
It also complements the medical management of illness, chronic pain and stress-related conditions such as: Anxiety & Panic, Headaches/Migraines, Chronic pain, Sleep disturbances, Cancer, AIDS, Heart disease, High Blood Pressure, Asthma, Gastrointestinal disorders, Arthritis/Fibromyalgia and many other medical conditions.
This eight-week series consists of intensive training in mindfulness meditation, gentle movement and group support. The program is designed for people who yearn for more balance in day-to-day life, and it promotes healthy living, renewal and stress management. It is modeled after the mindfulness-based stress-reduction work of Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD, from the University of Massachusetts Medical Center and featured in Bill Moyer's series "Healing and the Mind."
Mindfulness is the practice of cultivating non-judgmental awareness in day-to-day life. Mindfulness develops the potential to experience each moment, no matter how difficult or intense, with serenity and clarity. One can feel more alive and gain access to the powerful inner resources for healing. Participants learn life-long tools to help maximize life, even in the midst of stress, pain and illness.
