How You Can Help

You can help O’Connor Hospital serve all those in need of medical with a donation. There are many ways to help O’Connor Hospital maintain and improve facilities, equipment and patient care.

Cash Gifts: Your gift may be designated to a particular program or to O’Connor Hospital’s Greatest Need Fund. Cash gifts may be made in the following ways:

  • Donate Online: Make a secure donation here with your credit card.

  • Mail a Check:
Mail a check payable to O’Connor Hospital Foundation to:
        O’Connor Hospital Foundation
        2105 Forest Avenue
        San Jose, CA 95128-1471
  • Call us by phone
Call us with your credit card donation at 408-947-2717

Stock Gifts: Transfer a gift of securities. The advantage of a stock donation is that you, the donor, avoid paying capital gains tax on the market value appreciation of the shares. This tax benefit can reduce the cost of the gift when long or mid-term appreciated stock is donated. We’ll use the date the shares enter our account as the gift date and credit you with the market value for that date. To obtain the information you will need to electronically transfer stock, please contact Nancy Crowley, Dir. of Development at 408-947-2996.

Matching Gifts: Many employers match gifts made to not-for-profit organizations. These programs double or even triple you gift. For more information contact your Human Resources department.

Legacy/Planned Gifts: A legacy or planned gift is a contribution the foundation will receive at a future time. The donor retains an interest until then. Bequests in a will are legacy gifts, as are charitable annuities and trusts. You may direct your bequests to a specific program of your choice or to fund the area of greatest need. We hope you will tell us when you have named O’Connor Hospital Foundation in your will, trust, retirement plan, or insurance policy. We would very much like the opportunity to thank you for your generosity. By letting us know that you have made a bequest intention, you become a member of the Legacy Society. If you prefer to remain anonymous, your gift will be kept completely confidential. Bequest or designation language. (PDF)

Gifts of Real Estate: When you make an outright gift of real property held for more than a year, you obtain an income tax charitable deduction equal to the property’s full fair market value. This deduction lets you reduce the cost of making the gift and frees cash that otherwise would have been used to pay taxes. In addition, you also avoid capital gains tax on the property’s appreciation. Furthermore, the transfer isn’t subject to the gift tax, and the gift reduces your taxable estate. For more information, please contact Toni Harper, Foundation CEO, at 408-947-2896.

Gifts at the Time of Death: During a bereavement period, friends often see an appropriate means to express sympathy. The following message in the obituary of the deceased provides an avenue to make a meaningful and thoughtful gift. Memorial gifts may be made to O’Connor Hospital Foundation, 2105 Forest Avenue, San Jose, CA 95128-1471.

Gifts From the Heart: Celebrating special occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries, or just saying thank you, can be an opportunity to make a contribution honoring a family member, special friend, health care provider or the memory of someone dear. Gifts From the Heart brochure. (PDF)

Imaging Services Campaign: (See Page) Contributions for capital improvements for the Imaging Services Department enhance the hospital’s ability to provide state-of-the-art diagnostic services. Please contact Toni Harper, Foundation CEO at 408-947-2996.
